Good show guys, but …….

Finally, the event has really happened! It was really good to see some promising ideas come to life at the event.
First the pluses!

1. The ambience was cool.

2. The registration was seamless and painless. I got my badge and materials within a minute of walking in and that was too good to be true!
3. Presentations were well categorized (or should i say ‘tagged’) and timings were well kept, most of the time.

Now let us look at the other side, not to sound cribbing but to really contribute towards the preparation of a better event!

1. For those of us who wanted to do live blogging, it was a major disappointment that internet connectivity was not available within the audi. That it was present outside in the hall was only a small consolation and even irrelevant.

2. Worse still, was the plight of the presenters, most of them had to do with off-line demos because of 1 above. Given that the bulk of the products were web-centric, their preparation and efforts were not fully displayed.

3. It would have been relevant and useful if a new age entrepreneur like Amit Ranjan of Web Yantra (who was there present for the full duration of the event) shared his experiences for about 15 minutes followed by a Q&A of the same duration.
4.Q&A was just non-existent and that is a real let-down. The best and the worst of the strategies would come alive only when responding to real and live questions from the audience.
5. Except in a couple of cases, we did not really know the real purpose of their participation in the event (despite being asked to do so quite explicitly). While Vijay did prod a few guys, it would have made a real difference if he had extended that service to the others as well

6. Having known the size of the crowd well in advance, it was inexcusable that there was only one counter at the food ‘pandal’.

7. Even off-line interactions were not planned and organized.

8. I do not know why the presenters had to communicate with hand mikes which made it very cumbersome for the people on the stage as well as those in the audience who did not really get their deliveries. And we are in the web 2.0 world!!

All said and done, I really know what it calls for to organize such a path-breaking event! I salute the organizers for their great and deep commitment for entrepreneurship. I am also looking forward to a similar event in the near future!!

Great show Guys!

I hear you. We had to deal with a lot of questions:
    1. Should we enable wifi, or make everyone focus on the presenter and we went with the choice of the latter.
    2. We didn’t have any excuse for the internet not being up. Being a sunday the venue manager wasnt there, which made it hard to guess the settings. But that said, as I said, no excuses would do. We did manage to get the internet working but some of the internet companies had their site done in 1024 x 768 only and didnt want to demo their product on a projector that did 800 x 600 - which we enabled 1024 x 768 later during lunch.
    3. The lunch. Yep, I agree.
    4. Q & A. Well, that goes against the spirit. The idea was to engage in offline discussions but nobody wanted to get out of the audi. I guess the drawback of a good show, and comfortable seats? :)
    5. The collar mics where there. Nobody wanted it :) Except for Shalin of Tenmiles.

I think that covers for most part of the deal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They are duly noted.
